Drug Delivery

Echo believes that its Prelude® SkinPrep System will be effective in the transdermal drug delivery market. We expect the localized disruption of the stratum corneum created by the Prelude System will allow transdermal drug delivery, possibly including drugs that have low and high molecular weights. In addition, Prelude has the potential to provide a safe and cost effective skin permeation process for the delivery of topical anesthetic creams to allow rapid delivery of this medication across the epidermis. We believe that our Prelude skin permeation process has the potential to increase transdermal topical drug delivery up to 100 times greater than with untreated skin, including the delivery of a wide array of small and large molecule drugs.

Echo has granted the Ferndale Pharma Group, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Eloquest Healthcare Inc. a license to develop, market and sell the Prelude device for enhanced, fast-acting and needle-free delivery of Ferndale's topical 4% lidocaine product in North America and the U.K.
